Time to Wake Up

At the climax of his journey George is presented with two paths to life and he must make a choice!. So true, and even in the midst of difficult situations where we have limited
resources, I have to “choose” to do the right thing. I was thinking –
how could I have access to God and what He has for me if I choose to be corrupt
and satisfy my own desires. Our legacy
will live on in generations to come….

I used to observe my parents’ marriage and saw trends in my siblings’ marriages that appeared to be headed the same direction as my parents. It was the grace of God that kept me from the same situation. I prayed for my life and marriage to adopt the pattern of Christlikeness that made available to me the power to break generational transfer of dysfunctional marriages. I insisted that this will not be the case for me, nor will it transfer to my daughter when she marries. The buck stopped with my life in Christ that gave me the authority to speak against these things, breaking the cycle.

Some people say they will make sure they take care of their children better than they were treated as children, but the truth is that the power of generational transfer is more powerful than any natural force we can use to change things around us. We need to first recognize the problem, and ask the Holy Spirit to help break generational transfer of inaccurate lifestyles that can potentially affect our lives and that of our children. Matthew 7:7 tells me that as a follower of Christ, whatever I ask for has the power to transfer life and dispel darkness.

This video tell me that I don’t have to be the norm or a picture of my ancestry. Change starts with me..

This clip hammered home the point that any choice we make today, good or bad, will not only affect us but our children in the years ahead. There were times in the past when I responded to situations and in hindsight, I saw the pattern from my grand-mother & while the response may not have been negative, the reality is that I began to sift through and ask the Holy Spirit to show me what I accept and what to reject. This process never ends but is continuous. I am mindful that I have the power of free-will today but I don’t determine the consequences in years to come.
